Empire State Realty Trust hadn't had a new office in 40 years. It was time to refresh and modernize, but they still wanted to hold onto their identity. After all, they have an impressive legacy. They are the owner of many properties, the most famous of which is their namesake: the Empire State Building.
We gave them a space that reflected their current work modes, transitioning their teams out of cubicles and labyrinths of enclosed offices and into open workstations, clustered into groups with ample meeting rooms and phone booths nearby.
For the design aesthetic, we took cues from the Empire State Building itself, reinterpreting the art deco motif on the building's spandrels into engraved millwork panels defining the central core spaces as well as bespoke glass panels around the meeting rooms.
